Trendy Tuesday: High-Waist Shorts

You really mustn’t have been looking if you haven’t noticed high-waist shorts - they are everywhere! This year retro trends have made their way back on the streets, bringing us cat-eye sunglasses, large print sundresses, and high waists. So if you have a closet of old vintage cloths, bring them all out!

I remember speaking to my friend earlier this spring about these shorts as he was practically to the point of disgust with them. “They just don’t look good,” he said shrugging. Yet, I couldn’t resist to try them on, once the warmer days were to roll around. There is always a feeling of skepticism regarding a completely new trend. Whether I would look good in them and whether they would sit tight could be only confirmed through trial and error. In fact, I have been avoiding trying them on for a while, scared that they might just not look good on me and scared to shed tears when I see others wearing them with cute cropped tops and over-sized tees. 

But finally came the day when I saw a cute pair in H&M and could not resist to try them on. Voila! They fit perfectly. I didn’t even hesitate at the register and rushed home for the second fitting. 

So how to wear them? Well that’s the great thing. Waist-high shorts are compatible with practically anything. Match them with a cropped top, an over-sized tee, a button-down, a flashy tank top, and even a cardigan! My outfit of choice is H&M’s high waist-ed jean shorts, a champagne-colored over-sized tee with “High Heels High Hopes” writing, a pair of same-color wedges, and a black Nine West cross body bag. 

But the greatest thing about the new trend is that the shorts are great for showing off your long, sexy legs and your waist. If you haven’t had a chance to try them on yet, go go go and do! It might just be a love at first sight ;)
